Board and Staff
The Board of Directors approves the programmatic focus areas of the foundation’s grant making. Within these guidelines, the program staff recommend grants to the president and chairman for approval. Grants of $50,000 or more require full Board of Directors review and approval.
The President, selected by the Board of Directors, implements board policies, oversees programs, and manages the day-to-day operations of the foundation. Together, the Board and the president share the responsibility of representing the interests of the foundation to Brooklyn and the broader community. Under the leadership of the president, the foundation looks for opportunities to refine strategy and to improve its effectiveness
Brooklyn Community Foundation staff is comprised of experienced grant makers, fundraisers, and communicators, to assist the foundation’s donor community in achieving philanthropic goals. Our extensive knowledge of Brooklyn’s neighborhoods, nonprofits, and the concerns of residents is a valuable resource to donors looking to make a difference in their communities with the greatest impact and efficiency.
