Eligibility Requirements

Is my group eligible for a Brooklyn Community Foundation grant?

The remarkable organizations selected to receive grants from the Brooklyn Community Foundation embody our ideal of helping improve the lives of people in Brooklyn. To that end, they will also present truly innovate, creative ideas which have measurable results.

The Brooklyn Community Foundation generally supports exceptional local nonprofits that work in the arts, community development, human services, youth development, education and the environment.

Organizations applying for a grant from the Brooklyn Community Foundation must be classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and as public charities under Section 509(a) of that Code.  Fiscally sponsored organizations may also apply.  Your organization need not be based in Brooklyn; however grants from the Brooklyn Community Foundation must directly benefit Brooklyn neighborhoods and/or Brooklyn residents.

Individuals and for-profit organizations are not eligible for grant funding.
