Grant Expands NYU-Poly Robotics Outreach Program

To encourage student to take up careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), two Brooklyn institutions have extended their partnership. For this purpose, Polytechnic Institute of New York University has received $500,000 grant from Brooklyn Community Foundation.

When Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and John F. Kennedy were assassinated in the late 1960s, they both left behind legacies that posed a challenge for the country: how can we better service and uplift one another?

Marilyn Gelber, back then a freshmen at Queens College, knew early on that she would answer that call of service.

Research Foundation of CUNY obo Homebase, CUNY Graduate Center

Description:
Support to train high school Youth Leaders at two Brooklyn High Schools who will provide college access information for first generation college-bound students. In addition, funds will support the creation of a White Paper documenting the importance and potential of Youth Leadership in the college process for first generation college-bound students.

Description:

Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls

Description:
Support for a year-round youth leadership and music education programming for Brooklyn youth, including the launch of expanded programs at the Willie Mae Music Lab, a new home for arts education in Brooklyn, and their summer camp.
