This morning at the New York Memory Center in Park Slope, Time Warner Cable’s Regional Vice President of Government Relations Rory Whelan presented Brooklyn Community Foundation President Marilyn Gelber with a check for $10,000 directed toward the charitable organization’s Caring Neighbors Fund.

Brooklyn has about 30 miles of some of the city’s most beautiful waterfront, with views of New York’s famous skyline and the Statue of Liberty. But many born and bred here have never seen it.

The Brooklyn Community Foundation, through the generous support of the Peter Jay Sharp Foundation, is pleased to announce the first recipients of the Peter Jay Sharp Youth Arts Fellowship for promising Brooklyn high school students in the arts. Ten fellows were selected from nominations submitted by Brooklyn-based arts organizations for the 2011-12 inaugural cohort.
