On a September afternoon, Ian Foster Jones sits behind a piano at the Brooklyn Friends School, a private school in downtown Brooklyn. The group of tiny children who stand rapt before him is a picture of New York’s melting pot—different classes, races, and ethnic backgrounds.

A Donor-Advised Fund for Brooklyn
The Brooklyn Community Foundation has created a Donor-Advised Fund Program to support donors who want to direct a major portion of their charitable giving to Brooklyn.
A donor-advised fund allows donors to simply and easily create a low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving to streamline direct giving or as an alternative to creating a private or family foundation. Donors enjoy administrative convenience, cost savings and tax advantages by conducting their grantmaking through a donor-advised fund.

Note: All administrative fees for the Donor-Advised Fund program at the Brooklyn Community Foundation will be waived until December 31, 2012. At that time, the Foundation will evaluate program guidelines and determine the appropriate fee structure to ensure that donors are well-served and the maximum benefit for Brooklyn communities is achieved.
100% of your donation directly supports the best ideas and programs serving Brooklyn.
