Neighbors Together

Fighting Hunger Now and in the Future

Founded in 1982, Neighbors Together works to end hunger in Central Brooklyn. Running a community café that serves hundreds of hot meals daily it also believes that the underlying reasons for hunger need to be—and can be—addressed collectively.

Neighbors Together uses the soup kitchen to build a sense of community and empowerment, encouraging clients to support one another in their individual struggles with addiction, unemployment and lack of education; Neighbors Together also organizes clients of the soup kitchen to understand and become active in policy areas that impact their lives and can transform their lives.

Through the Brooklyn Community Foundation Caring Neighbors Fund, thousands of individuals and families in need have access to critical food and human services otherwise not available to them.
