After Sandy: A Message to Brooklyn's Nonprofit Community

We hope that you and your communities are safe and sound from the impact of Hurricane Sandy felt here across Brooklyn. We know that the coastal areas of our borough - Red Hook, Coney Island, Gerritsen Beach, Brighton Beach, Dumbo, Sea Gate and Manhattan Beach - were hit particularly hard by flooding and power outages. We expect the storm will be disruptive for thousands of Brooklynites.

Over the next days, weeks, and months, Brooklyn Community Foundation will be mobilizing efforts to help out our nonprofit friends hit hardest and join together in the clean up efforts.

At this critical time, please let us know by email (volunteer@bcfny.org), Facebook, or Twitter how your organizations and constituents have been impacted, and if there are any urgent needs that you might need help with.

Once we hear from enough of you, we will back in touch with a coordinated response.

United in Brooklyn,
Marilyn Gelber
President, Brooklyn Community Foundation
