$1.3 Million in New Support for Brooklyn's Community Foundation!

March 11, 2014

Today’s Wall Street Journal shares the outstanding news that Alan Fishman, our Board Chairman, has made a generous new pledge of $1 million to the Brooklyn Community Foundation—to show other Brooklynites how they can work with the foundation to support the strongest nonprofit organizations in the borough.

His gift has already leveraged an additional $300,000 for the Foundation, including a sizable contribution from fellow Foundation Board Member Bob Catell.

The article also accompanies a story on the Foundation’s growth under President & CEO Cecilia Clarke, who took leadership in September 2013 with an emphasis on building community engagement, gathering funds from new Brooklyn philanthropists, and being a high impact “matchmaker” through effective vehicles like donor advised funds.
