A Capital Idea to Help Students Get Ahead

Capital One Bank Pledges Holiday Dollar-for-Dollar Match to Our Education & Youth Achievement Fund, Up to $15,000

We’re thrilled to announce that Capital One Bank has our schools at the top of their list this holiday!

The bank—a Brooklyn Community Foundation supporter since our launch in 2009—has generously pledged to match all donations to our Education & Youth Achievement Fund up to $15,000, as part of our “Gift to Brooklyn” Holiday Campaign.

With the participation of donors like you, we can give an additional $30,000 to schools in Brooklyn's most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, to help more students become stronger readers and learners.

Low-income students in overcrowded, under-resourced schools are much more likely to lack basic literacy skills, perform below grade level, and ultimately drop out. These funds will be aimed at dramatically changing these outcomes. And because we know that successful learning starts at home, funds will also help foster partnerships between parents, students, and their communities.

Make Your Matching Gift Online

100% of your tax-deductible gift goes directly back to the community.

Can you help? Please give whatever you can to make a difference for Brooklyn students. And through December 31st, all gifts up to $250 will also be matched by an anonymous donor—so a donation of $250 to our Education & Youth Achievement Fund is actually $750!

Planting the Seed for a Sustainable Brooklyn
Brooklyn is home to big-picture thinkers who know that in order to achieve a healthier and more sustainable global environment, we must start here, in the biggest borough of the world’s most influential city. In August, we officially launched our 3-year Brooklyn Greens initiative, a plan to unite the work of three community-based organizations and create a "green master plan" for Brooklyn. See our exciting progress here!
