We are pleased to announce an exciting new initiative of the Brooklyn Community Foundation:
Brooklyn is a hub of vibrant culture, political power, and economic innovation; yet nearly half of all residents are living in or near poverty, placing a powerful strain on communities.
We believe to truly understand the scope of what’s happening across Brooklyn, we need to engage Brooklynites in talking about strategies for action.
Over the next 6 months, we will gather hundreds of Brooklyn advocates, entrepreneurs, and leaders to talk about their communities' strengths, challenges, and opportunities.
The Brownstoners of Bedford Stuyvesant participate in a Brooklyn Insights
Roundtables with community leaders will cover dozens of urgent topics—from education, entrepreneurship, and the environment to immigration, community development, housing, and criminal justice—and conversations with residents in neighborhoods like East New York and Sunset Park will help us understand how and why specific Brooklyn communities are transforming.
We’re just getting started. We hope you will join us in this endeavor to bring Brooklyn together, to listen and learn. Read more about Brooklyn Insights here.
