Shop Local, Give Local
As the holiday season kicks off here in Brooklyn, we encourage you to think "local" and invest in our communities.
Shop Local: A gift from Brooklyn is a gift to Brooklyn
Support the small businesses that make our borough so unique - from the Brooklyn Flea to Bedford Avenue, Fifth Avenue in Park Slope to Third Avenue in Bay Ridge, and especially the stores impacted by Hurricane Sandy in DUMBO, Red Hook, Coney Island, Brighton Beach, and beyond.

Give Local: Celebrate Acts of Giving on #GivingTuesday
Black Friday. Cyber Monday. Now, there's Giving Tuesday - the giving season's opening day!
On Tuesday, November 27th, around the country, charities, families, businesses and individuals are coming together to transform the way people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. It’s a simple idea: take a day to find a way to join in acts of giving.
In Brooklyn, you can volunteer at one of hundreds of neighborhood-based organizations, donate to help strengthen our communities and improve the lives of our neighbors in need, and inform your friends and family about important issues and concerns in our borough.
Tell everyone you can about what you are doing and why it matters. Follow us on Twitter at @DoGoodBklyn and the hashtag #GivingTuesday for more ideas!
