Programs & Impact

With the generous support of our donors, the Brooklyn Community Foundation leads special programmatic initiatives and awards critical grants to back local effective, essential, and innovative nonprofit organizations.

The Foundation’s Community Fund is the only private grantmaking fund dedicated entirely to Brooklyn’s nonprofit organizations. Since 2009, over $20 million in Brooklyn Community Foundation grants has been awarded to over 300 organizations working in every neighborhood in our borough. Additionally, our donor advised fund holders direct hundreds of grants to organizations across the borough each year, boosting the capacity of a diverse range of local nonprofits supporting our communities.

The Foundation is dedicated to understanding the unique and ever-changing needs of Brooklynites across the borough. We work hand-in-hand with nonprofit leaders, community organizers, government officials, and residents to pursue all opportunities for improving lives and strengthening neighborhoods. And in times of crisis, we are able to act quickly with these partners to address emergency response and recovery at the local level.
