Donor Services Coordinator (She/Her/Hers)
Maria is a recent Boston College graduate. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Women & Gender Studies. Born in Costa Rica and raised in Brooklyn, Maria has a strong passion for helping the community, especially women and youth. She attended Cristo Rey Brooklyn, a work study high school, where she was able to work for Cullen and Dykman LLP, Fidelis Care headquarters, and the Paul Massey Mayoral Campaign. During her time in college, she worked many part-time jobs in office settings and customer service which allowed her skills to grow. After a year of volunteering in a home for women and children during her sophomore year, she realized that her passion was helping others. Two months before graduation, Maria decided to switch career paths from advertising to nonprofit/social work. This led to her decision to apply to graduate school to receive a Master of Social Work from NYU. She looks forward to learning and growing with the team at Brooklyn Community Foundation, along with achieving her passions of helping communities around New York City.
