Because of You

Dear Foundation Partners,

First, thank you. In 2016 you gave over $3.2 million to support the work of vital nonprofits and it has made a big difference. I'd like to take a moment to reflect on all that we have accomplished together.

In partnership with both our generous donors and fund holders, Brooklyn Community Foundation made $4.4 million in grants in 2016, primarily to community-led nonprofits across our borough.

Highlights of our work from last year include: the creation of a vital Immigrant Rights Fund, ongoing support for our Brooklyn Restorative Justice Project to make schools safer and fairer for all students, engaging Crown Heights residents in grantmaking decisions through our Neighborhood Strength initiative, and launching the Spark Prize to celebrate the excellence and impact of Brooklyn nonprofits.

In 2017, your participation is more critical than ever before. We look forward to collaborating with you, our fund holders, donors, board members, grantees, and partners, to help build a fair and just Brooklyn and to “spark change” across our communities.

Thank you for being a part of our team and we look forward to making an even bigger impact together in 2017 and beyond.

Sincerely,

Cecilia Clarke
President and CEO
