Each organization will not only advance in consideration to be one of the five winners of the $100,000 award, but will also be a beneficiary of our $100,000 donation match as part of #BrooklynGives on Giving Tuesday, a 24-hour local giving campaign taking place this November 27, 2018.

The 35-member Spark Prize Committee—comprised of Brooklyn civic, business, and neighborhood leaders—selected the 20 finalists from a highly competitive pool of almost 130 applicants. The Spark Prize honors local nonprofits that embody four criteria: 1.) Born in Brooklyn 2.) Commitment to Equity 3.) Values Driven and 4.) Vision for the Future.

We will announce the five winners of this year’s $100,000 Spark Prize in January following in person interviews with the Finalists and our Committee members this Fall.

“Congratulations to these 20 organizations as well as to our Spark Prize Committee for their hard work in selecting from such a competitive field of entries. Both the Spark Prize and the #BrooklynGives campaign are designed to showcase and support outstanding and often overlooked organizations rooted in Brooklyn. We continue to take immense pride in our nonprofit community and we hope every Brooklynite will join us to support local nonprofits and give where they live!

Mark Your Calendars to Give Where You Live this Giving Tuesday!

Celebrated annually on Giving Tuesday—the Tuesday after Thanksgiving— #BrooklynGives is our borough's first 24-hour giving day, an opportunity for everyone who calls Brooklyn home to come together to support nonprofit organizations that make our communities great.

Our goal for #BrooklynGives is to raise more than $1 million for over 100 Brooklyn nonprofits!

And to get things started, we’re providing a $5,000 donation match for each of the 20 Spark Prize Finalists, in addition to other prizes throughout the day.

Explore the organizations who are participating at www.BrooklynGives.org and follow the hashtag #BrooklynGives on social media to help spread the word.

We're proud to present #BrooklynGives in partnership with the generous support of lead sponsors National Grid and Santander Bank.
