Change Starts Here: Brooklyn Insights 2020
Earlier this year, thousands of Brooklynites came together to support the urgent needs of their neighbors through our Brooklyn COVID-19 Response Fund, making it the single largest community-funded initiative in our history.
This week we are launching the Fund’s next phase, which begins with an ambitious community engagement process we’re calling Brooklyn Insights 2020:
Through virtual conversations with leaders and residents in communities of color most harmed by the pandemic, we are taking full stock of the devastating health, economic, and social disparities experienced over the past year.
And, more critically, we are elevating stories of resilience and community-led solutions for how to move forward.
With the support of our donor community, we hope to invest an additional $1.5 million in strategies that fight for long-term change.
We know that when the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, we will still be facing the enduring pandemic of systemic racism. And we know that any “recovery” will only increase disparities and inequities unless racial justice is at its core.
Change Starts Here: Our communities hold the solutions for repairing, rebuilding, and long-term transformation. Help us provide the funding and resources they need.
Join us and co-invest in a better future for our communities, to ensure that we aren’t returning to normal—we are fearlessly reimagining what Brooklyn can be.
