Spark Change: Invest in Youth

This year has been incredibly difficult, especially for young people of color across our communities. Yet, in the face of extraordinary challenges, young people have inspired a nation, leading powerful protests for racial justice and political change.

At Brooklyn Community Foundation, we firmly believe young people are fundamental to long-term transformation.

In 2020, through our Invest in Youth initiative, we are granting $2.4M to 54 community-based organizations working with young leaders across Brooklyn, because we know that change starts here, at the local level.

This investment is possible because of the generosity of donors to our Community Fund.

As we look ahead to 2021, we know that our communities will continue to face even bigger challenges. This moment demands a renewed commitment to Brooklyn. Please make a donation today.

To learn more about our investment in the power and potential of young people—especially young women and gender expansive youth of color—watch our Spark Change: #SayHerName webinar featuring Dr. Monique W. Morris, award-winning author and social justice scholar, and Joanne N. Smith, founding President and CEO of our Invest in Youth grantee Girls for Gender Equity (GGE), discussing the intersection of racial, social, and gender justice, centering the experience of Black cisgender and transgender women, girls, and gender expansive youth.
