Brooklyn Community Foundation Promotes Liane Stegmaier to Chief of Staff

We are pleased to announce that Liane Stegmaier has been promoted to Chief of Staff of Brooklyn Community Foundation. In her new role, she will serve as a key strategic advisor to our President and CEO, Dr. Jocelynne Rainey, and will be responsible for the execution of the Foundation’s strategic plan.

Liane has played a pivotal role in the success of Brooklyn Community Foundation since joining our team in 2011, just two years after the Foundation was established. As the Vice President of Communications and Strategy, she has nearly doubled the organization’s endowment from $65 million to $125 million. Among the many contributions Liane has made as a member of our team is her creation of #BrooklynGives, a Giving Tuesday campaign that has raised over $6 million since 2016 to support hundreds of small Brooklyn nonprofits.

“Liane is a key voice in this organization, and we are proud to see her take on the new role of Chief of Staff, a position where her creativity and leadership will shine,” said Dr. Jocelynne Rainey. “Over the course of a decade, Liane has helped dramatically widen our donor and nonprofit networks and helped us reach the milestone of $90 million in grants awarded since our founding. As we continue to grow and embark on a new strategic planning process, we will rely on Liane’s valued perspective to help lead the way.”

Prior to joining the Foundation, Liane oversaw communications for the Lupus Research Institute and S.L.E. Lupus Foundation, and also worked on the NYC2012 Olympic Bid. She graduated with honors from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
