Meet Our Spark Prize Committee!
We are pleased to announce the members of our 2024 Spark Prize Committee, a dynamic group of 30 Brooklyn leaders who represent a cross-section of the borough and span various industries.
Bringing a wide range of professional and lived experience to the table, this year’s committee includes sommelier-at-large Andre Mack (Maison Noir), executives Daisy Auger-Domínguez (VICE Media Group) and George Suttles (Commonfund Institute), political strategists Teresa Gonzalez and Juanita Scarlett, and cultural leaders Morgan Monaco (Prospect Park Alliance), Nancy Webster (Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy), Laura Washington (New-York Historical Society), and JP Napleton (Mother NY).
Meet the 2024 Spark Prize Committee
Since 2017, the Spark Prize has awarded more than $3.5 million to Brooklyn nonprofits committed to racial and social justice.
Each year, the Spark Prize Committee engages in a rigorous application review process, incorporating an equity lens in alignment with the Foundation's commitment to racial justice to assess Spark Prize applicants’ work, ties to Brooklyn, and vision for the future. The committee selects 20 finalists from a highly competitive applicant pool, and conducts interviews before selecting five nonprofits that will each receive the $100,000 “no strings attached” prize.
We deeply value the dedication of our Spark Prize Committee members, whose time, expertise, and partnership allow us to amplify organizations that are sparking critical change in our communities. We'll be announcing the next Spark Prize recipients in January 2024 — stay tuned!
