We are pleased to announce the members of our 2022-2023 Spark Prize Committee! To date, the Spark Prize has awarded more than $3 million to Brooklyn nonprofits and continues to support organizations that are committed to racial and social justice.

We are pleased to announce the recipients of our 2022 Spark Prize, the only honor celebrating nonprofits advancing racial justice in the borough. 

After being on pause last year, our Brooklyn Community Foundation $100,000 SPARK Prize has returned for 2021—and we are thrilled to share the 20 nonprofit finalists selected by our Spark Prize Committee.


To pay tribute to the leader who shaped nearly a decade of growth and transformation for our institution, we are proud to announce the Cecilia Clarke Fund for Nonprofit Leaders.

We are pleased to announce the five recipients of this year’s $100,000 Spark Prize, the only honor celebrating outstanding social justice nonprofits in the borough. 

We have come a long way in our 10 years as Brooklyn’s community foundation. In our annual Insights to Impact Report, you will learn more about our work meeting the needs of our borough’s most vulnerable communities and supporting nonprofits on the frontlines of change.

For our Black Philanthropy Month series we spoke with BlackSpace about philanthropy, legacy, and their work to protect and create Black spaces. BlackSpace is a collective of Black residents, changemakers, urban planners, architects, artists, activists, designers, and leaders, and one of the Foundation’s 2019-2020 Incubator Project Winners.

We are excited to announce the 6 organizations chosen for our next Incubator Project cohort! Through the Incubator Project we help build the capacity of start-up, innovative organizations at the earliest stages of development dedicated to sparking change for a more fair and just Brooklyn.

Applications are now being accepted for our 18-month Incubator Project, which will award up to five emerging, innovative organizations at the early stages of development with free co-working space and a $5,000 grant for general operating costs.
